Sunday Readings Sunday 19 May Pentecost (Whitsunday) Acts 2:1-21 Luke records the amazing event of the coming of the Holy Spirit as promised, like a rushung wind and tongues of fire, empowering the apostles. A diverse crowd gathered and surprisingly heard the apostles speaking each in their own language. Peter stood and preached the good news of salvation that Jesus Christ had brought. Romans 8:22-27 Paul writes to the Christians in Rome explaining the role and power of the Holy Spirit especially when we cannot find words to pray. John 15:26-27; 16:4b-15 Jesus promises the gift of the Holy Spirit when he tells his disciples that he is returning to his Father.He describes the role of the Holy Spirit - to reveal sin, righteousness and judgement. The Holy Spirit will be the Spirit of truth since it comes from God our Father and Jesus, his Son.

COLLECT for Whitsunday (Pentecost)
Holy Spirit, sent by the Father, ignite in us your holy fire; strengthen your children with the gift of faith, revive your Church with the breath of love, and renew the face of the earth, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayer focus for the week ahead: Pray for PEACE in Israel and Palestine, in Ukraine, for Sudan, for Haiti and all areas of the world where there is conflict. Pray for all refugees fleeing hate, violence and poverty. Pray that hate and violence can be banished from all corners of society. Pray for all victims of hate and violence. Pray for King Charles as he undertakes more duties while continuing medical treatment. Pray also for the Princess of Wales as she continues her treatment for cancer. Pray for the other members of their family as they take up more duties.
